Thank you!

First Grade is having a great beginning to the year.  We are writing, reading and doing great math.  They are finishing up their Auto Biographies and will soon be hung in the hall for everyone to read. If you see them let them know you read them.  They are moving on to writing creative stories and are doing quite well with those vivid imaginations.
I want to thank the Parent Volunteers for coming in each week to read and write with the kids.  It's helping them so much with moving up those reading levels.
I also want to say thank you for making sure their homework is completed each night.  Practice is so important and also this helps with responsibility.
I guess I just want to say a great big thank you!

Welcome Back Everyone!

Hello Grade One and Parents,
I am so excited and a little nervous to start this year just like you I bet.  It's always exciting to start a new year.  New beginnings, new ideas, learning all new things.  If you missed open house please go through all of the materials I have provided.  Your child will need P.E. shoes for gym that only go on our new gym floor.  We have one snack a day and this snack MUST be a nut free snack.  We have two students in our classroom that are highly allergic and we want to protect our friends.  Our day starts at 8:00 so being here on time is certainly a great way to start a great day!  If you ever need to contact me you may call me here at school 7:30-3:15.  The number is 843-6498.  This year is going to be a blast and I cannot wait to kick it off the right way!

Writing to Read

Hello Everyone,
I cannot believe we are almost through the first half of the second trimester.  The first grade students are doing great across the board.  In the Writing to Read program as you know everyone moves at an independent pace.  Your child has a goal for reading and writing.  We are learning how important it is to set goals and how fun it is when we try and reach them.  Ask your child what their reading goal is for March 2nd. We have added weekend reading to help them reach the goal faster.  Thank you so much with helping them with all of their homework and making sure it is returned the next day.  Don't forget they can get on IXL our computer math program at home.  They each have a password, but if they forgot drop me a note or give me a call and I can easily get it for you.  Animal research will be underway soon.  The students are thrilled.  It should and will be a great six weeks.  Maybe more!  Our days are jammed packed.  Monday is Martin Luther King Jr day so this is your reminder no school on Monday.  Have a great week!
